Wood Violets: Original Watercolor Painting
A small original watercolour painting of one of spring's sweetest flowers: the wild violet.
I dug up a little clump of wood violets from our backyard, potted them and brought them up to my studio to paint.
I love the delicate markings of these tiny spring flowers. Their botanical name is 'Viola sororia'.
This small, original watercolor measures 5 x 7 inches. It is painted on gorgeous Twinrocker paper (handmade in Indiana). The image itself is approximately 3 x 4 inches.
I will initial the painting on the front. It will be fully signed and titled on the back.
Each painting that I do takes hours and most often days. I slowly build my washes and details until I am happy with the final effect.
In general, the actual painting will more delicate and softer in nature than what is probably appearing on your computer screen.
